In a recent post on the CRCNA Network, the author examines whether these names form a bridge or a barrier to the Triune God of the Bible.
The author uses three out of the 99 names to challenge the assertion of Barrie Evans and Farhana Mayer who state that these form the interpretive key to understanding Islam. In Mayer’s own words:
“I put forward the case that the divine natures as enunciated in the cardinal Islamic divine names, are…the governing verses of the Quran, and all other verses and interpretations are to be governed by
the objective values of the core divine qualities.”
When compared to three Biblical verses, considerable doubt is cast on whether these names represent the Triune God of the Bible. Moreover, a link to an article by Keith Thompson, suggests a linkage between the Biblical “best of deceivers” and that of Allah of Islam.
Biblical Missiology would like your feedback on the following questions:
- What did you think of Barrie Evans and Farhana Mayer’s arguments?
- Did their selection out of the 99 names present the whole picture?
- How would you answer the question in the title?
