Recently, Jacob Frey, the mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota, allowed the Mosques in the city to broadcast the adhan (i.e. Islamic call to prayer). He was quoted as saying that this is no different than ringing a church bell or blowing a shofar. 1
This mayor must be ignorant of the text of the Islamic call to prayer: “Allahu Akbar”, repeated several times, followed by the Shahada (Testimony of Faith). Furthermore, he is assuming that Islam is merely a religious faith like Christianity and Judaism. Since churches ring bells, and synagogues employ a shofar, Muslims have the right to broadcast their Call to Prayer. What he misses, as well as most American politicians, is that Islam is not just a religion like the other major religions such as Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, and Shinto. Islam is a theocracy in which there is no separation between politics and religion. This aspect of Islam is evident from its history and teachings.
The Text of the Adhan
The adhan is repeated in Arabic several times and followed by the Shahada (confession of Faith) 2, which is the text used when a person converts to Islam:
Allahu Akbar! (Allah is Great!)
Allahu Akbar! (Allah is Great!)
Allahu Akbar! (Allah is Great!)
Allahu Akbar! (Allah is Great!)
Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah. (I bear witness that there is no god except Allah)
Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah. (I bear witness that there is no god except Allah)
Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah. (I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah)
Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah. (I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah)
Hayya ‘ala-s-Salah. (Hurry to the prayer)
Hayya ‘ala-s-Salah. (Hurry to the prayer)
Hayya ‘ala-l-Falah. (Hurry to salvation)
Hayya ‘ala-l-Falah. (Hurry to salvation)
Allahu Akbar! (Allah is Great!)
Allahu Akbar! (Allah is Great!)
La ilaha illa Allah. (There is no god except Allah)
The Source of Islamic Supremacy
It should be noted the adhan is broadcast five times a day, beginning at dawn (Salaat al-Fajr). The City Council – which includes three Muslims –are “prepared for the possibility of noise complaints once the earliest adhan begins.” 3 Such concessions to Muslims infringe on the rights of non-Muslims and ignore the history of how Islam has come to dominate the lands of North Africa, the Middle East, Central and Southern Asia, motivated by repeated declarations in the Qur’an to have supremacy over all other religions including the call to physical warfare:
Fight them, till there is no persecution and the religion is God’s; then if they give over, there shall be no enmity save for evildoers. (Sura 2:193)
The true religion with God is Islam… (Sura 3:19)
What, do they desire another religion than God’s [i.e. Islam], and to Him has surrendered whoso is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they shall be returned? …Whoso desires another religion than Islam, it shall not be accepted of him; in the next world he shall be among the losers. (Sura 3:83, 85)
Fight them, till there is no persecution and the religion is God’s entirely; then if they give over, surely God sees the things they do (Sura 8:39)
The Spread of Islam
Islam burst out of Arabia in the seventh century and began the conquest of the world. In 732, one hundred years after the death of Muhammad, Islam had conquered lands stretching from India in the east to Spain in the west. Charles Martel defeated the Muslims at the Battle of Tours near Poitiers France in 732.
Following the conversion of the Turks to Islam, both the Seljuks and the Ottomans conquered the territories of the Byzantine Empire and crowned their advances by entering Constantinople in 1453. From that point on, the Ottomans established their presence in the Balkans for centuries. Twice they attempted the conquest of Austria, first in 1529, and then in 1683. Had not the Poles come to the help of the Austrians, western Europe would have been Islamized!
It is often forgotten that the presence of Muslims in Europe following the end of WWII is a modern phenomenon. The United States Marshall Plan enabled several European countries to experience a surge in the production of goods and services and their exports. Due to the loss of manpower as a result of the war, Germany, France, and Britain encouraged the migration of people from the Middle East and North Africa. First, they allowed men as “guest workers,” but gradually entire families joined the men. The majority were Muslims who wanted to practice their religious beliefs and customs in the host countries. In fact, this is nothing less than a type of a soft Islamic invasion.
How Islam Is Imposing Itself on the West
It is best illustrated in an Interview conducted by the Algerian author Hamid Zanaz with Ms. Mireille Valette, a Swiss author and human rights activist on 25 January 2012. 4
Hamid Zanaz (HZ): Does Islam constitute a serious menace to the West?
Mireille Valette (MV): Islam (as taught in the mosques) is a menace to the very foundations of our democracies. Islam has already been responsible for some strong sexist regressions such as standing against any mixing between the sexes, the forcing of the niqab on women, and requiring special hours for both sexes in public swimming pools and forbidding the shaking of hands in greetings between men and women.
It is the first time in history that an immigrant group requires its people to detest the host society that had welcomed them, and to remain apart, as much as possible.
HZ: You do emphasize the diminution of the freedom of expression
MV: This is a very serious matter. Representatives of Islam are now demanding that no criticisms be made of their religion, or its precepts made fun of. Furthermore, specifically women and minority rights, are gravely lacking.
HZ: Is the West capable of dealing deal with this systematic aggression that you have described, and how?
MV: First, the elites, the politicians, and the media, must open their eyes. When the West no longer considers the veil as simply a cultural matter, when all reactionary and intolerant demands have been designated as they really are, a great step will have been taken. Furthermore, it is imperative that we stop following the injunctions of the United Nations and the European Union that require us to combat our “Islamophobia.” Also, there are a number of legislative actions that could be taken to limit immigration.
HZ: May we point to a Western tendency for voluntary blindness and bondage?
MV: There is no doubt about the blindness that afflicts the elites, and particularly, the Left. I find it hard to understand that. There is this desire to maintain an angelic view of immigrants by obstinately refusing to listen, to observe, and to debate the issue. It is this rejection of a reality that prevents you from reconsidering the rosy view of the immigrants, that you have been propagating for the last several years.
Western Ignorance of Islam
I dealt with the subject of the Muslims’ presence in my articles, “Muslims in the West,” 5 and “A Warning of Two Reformist Algerians: “Le Grand Replacement” (The Great Replacement). 6 Most Americans and Canadians are ignorant of the true nature of Islamic Imperialism. In his book, Orientalism, 7 the late Edward Said (pronounced Sa’eed) did a great harm to the proper understanding of Islam. For a critique of his book, please refer to the works of Ibn Warraq, including his Defending the West – A Critique of Edward Said’s Orientalism by Ibn Warraq. 8
A Christian Call to Prayer
The public broadcasting of the adhan is unnecessary for Muslims to practice Islam. The decision by the mayor and the city council may seem to some to be a friendly overture but is in reality a capitulation to Muslim demands that allows Islam to be imposed on every non-Muslim within earshot of its proselytizing call. The admonition of Samuel Zwemer (1867-1952), the “Apostle to Islam,” written a century ago is still as relevant as ever: 9
The present condition of the Moslem world calls for prayer. We are convinced that the present apparent inability of the Christian Church to deal effectively with the great problem of the evangelization of Mohammedans is due above all else to the weakness of the prayer-life alike in the home Churches and in the branches of the Church which are springing up in foreign lands. The ministry of friendship and the ministry of healing never before had such splendid opportunity as they have to-day to win Moslem hearts. But we must not forget that the supreme ministry is the ministry of prayer. It is possible for all everywhere and at all times; it is an omnipotent ministry. God is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” 10 “He that spared not His own Son but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not also with Him freely give us all things?” 11 Prayer has proved mighty through God to the pulling down of nearly every opposing stronghold and barrier; shall it prove impotent to burst the barriers of the proudest soul and set free the captives of sin and darkness? What hath God wrought since men and women began to pray for the lands of the Crescent! “Before they call I will answer, while they are yet speaking I will hear.” 12

This challenge is both discouraging and encouraging. We have an open mission field before us that we must not neglect. The American church is not aware, prepared, or trained to accomplish the task before us.
